Frangelica Vanilla
3/4 oz Frangelico
1/4 oz Half and Half
1 oz Van Gogh Vanilla Vodka
Pour ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add crushed ice and let stand for five seconds. Shake vigorously for five seconds. Strain into martini glass.

Denzel Washington - Our Kinda People!

Now Ladies...this is what I'm talking about! Mr. Washington is dashing, intriguing and oh-so-talented.
Most of all, the roles he chooses and they way he portrays his characters compells us to think, and do so deeply.

Did you see Man on Fire? I saw it 5 times. Each time I noticed another aspect of the personality Denzel created for "Creasy", the bodyguard of "Pita", played by Dakota Fanning.

I have been privileged enough to spend time in the presence of these awesome men and women who are part-human, part-guardian angel and part-warrior. Each and every one of them was or is tormented to some degree.

Washington brings this torment out brilliantly.
What a noble man, a majestic man, one we would love to have in our midst while we sip our martinis and listen to his stories.

So, for Denzel, we have created a sizzling, steamy and mysterious Chocolate Martini called simply:

"Darling Denzel Martini":

Ingredients
8 ounces of chilled Skyy vodka.
4 tablespoons of Creme de Cacao.
2 teaspoons of dark chocolate shavings.

The mix
Pour the vodka into a shaker 3/4 full of cracked ice.
Shake, for a minute.
Dip the rims of two frozen martini glasses into the chocolate shavings.
Spoon the Creme de Cacao into the glass from a height of 2 inches.
Strain your vodka into your martini glasses.
Sprinkle more chocolate shavings on top.

Now-now, Dollies, let's keep our heads! Yes, he is gorgeous, and yes, he is British. And yes, he does have extraordinary talent.

What are we going to do about it?

Well, invent a Martini for him, why not?

Here it is - the "Mad About Clive" Martini. Because he makes us lose our cool, we've decided on a tropical theme:

8 ounces of Skyy vodka
1 ounce sweet vermouth chilled
1 teaspoon of granadilla juice
2 fresh saltana grapes
The Mix

Pour the Skyy into a shaker 3/4 full of cracked ice.
Shake for a full minute.
Strain into 2 freezing martini glasses.
Top each glass with 1/2 ounce of sweet vermouth.
Drizzle half of the granadilla juice atop each cocktail
Drop a sultana grape into each glass

At Info Divas and Martinis at Midnight, we just ADORE Joanna!
She takes class, crass and debauchery to a new meaning.

We weren't born when Joanna Lumley's first acting job was on the 1969 James bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. She had a small part opposite Diana Rigg.

But, we do remember her as Purdy in the The New Avengers.

In 1992 her career-rejunivating turn in Absolutely Fabulous as Eurydice Colette Clytemnestra Dido Bathsheba Rabelais Patricia 'Patsy' Cocteau Stone surprised everyone. Drunk, disgusting, and merciless, Patsy remains a classic comedy character of the 1990s.

In a pitch-perfect comic performance, Lumley proved her comic credentials and she is now synonymous with the role. In fact, having escaped type-casting as prim and proper there's now a risk of the exact opposite happening.

I had NO IDEA that the incredible General Kalashnikov, the sexy Russian military man who invented that naughty machine-gun, the AK-47, also produced his own vodka!!
And then a sexy Russian friend, Sviat from Moscow, (he's single and available Dolls, so write to me if you want his contact details!) Anyway, he brought me a bottle.
Oh Boy! This is the real deal, Dahlings! DIVINE in my Martinis!!

THE VODKA

Our vodka continues a Russian tradition, through the Kalashnikov family, that dates back to the fourteenth century and is crafted from the finest grain and natural water, as it was in the General Kalashnikov’s home village in Kutya, high in the Altai Mountains in Siberia where to toast in vodka is the essence of friendship. THE GENERAL

Mikhail Timoveeich Kalashnikov, (Sexy Man!), was born on November 10th, 1919, to a large peasant family in the village of Kurya, high in the Altai Territory of Siberia. After finishing secondary school M T. Kalashnikov went to work in the Matai Depot as an apprentice and technical clerk in the employ of a Turkistan-Siberian Railway. In 1938 M T. Kalashnikov was called up for Red Army, where he finished training as an engineer in the tank mechanical school and where he started designing by creating a revolution counter to register the number of shots from a tank gun, made a special appliance for the "TT" pistol to enhance its effectiveness through tank turret slits and designed a tank running meter.

In June of 1941 Mikhail Timoveeich was ordered by the Commander-in-Chief General Zhukov to Leningrad to implement his inventions. However it was the beginning of The Great Patriotic War and Kalashnikov participated as a tank commander in fierce battles against the Nazis. In October 1941 he was severely wounded and while in hospital, Mikhail Timoveeich conceived a number of designs which, while on a six-month sick leave, he tried in the depot's workshops. So successful were they that, with the support of the Soviet leadership, Kalashnikov was posted to The Moscow Aviation Institute to further his work.

In June 1942 the famous soviet scientist A. A. Blagonravov took an interest in the talented young inventor and made everything available to the self-taught-designer. By 1944 Kalashnikov developed an experimental model of the self-loading carbine; it became the base for a creation of a new gun which in 1946 gained a overall victory in difficult competitive tests. In 1947 the automatic device was adopted by the Soviet Army, known as the AK47, and Staff Sergeant M.T. Kalashnikov was awarded The Stalin Price First Class.

Since 1949 A number of his inventions have been adopted and as such has become the General Designer to the Soviet Army.

In honor of his services to the Soviet Socialists Republic Mikhail T Kalashnikov was given the rank of Colonel and in 1971, as well as becoming an Honorary Doctor of Engineering Science, was further decorated with three Orders of Lenin, The Order of the Red Banner of Labour, The Order of the Great Patriotic War First Class and The Order of the Red Star.

The President of Russia decorated the outstanding designer with The Order for Distinguished Services to the Motherland and promoted him to Major-General on his 75th birthday in 1994. Mikhail T Kalashnikov, now 84, still lives and works at the Chief Designer at the Izhmash Engineering Plant in Izhevsk.

Kalashnikov Vodka was designed and named after Lieutenant-General Mikhail Timoveeich Kalashnikov who is, at the age of 84 still a serving officer and the Head Designer of the Izhmash Engineering Plant in Izshevsk in Siberia.

General Mikhail T Kalashnikov is the founder and the Honorary Chairman of The Kalashnikov Joint Stock Vodka Co (1947) that makes Kalashnikov Vodka.

General Kalashnikov was a Tank Commander in WWII, known in Russia as The Great Patriotic War, and who fought a number of battles against the Nazi occupation until wounded which is when he turned his energy to designing.

General Mikhail T Kalashnikov is also the designer of the gun known as the AK47 for which he was made Hero of the Socialist Cause and awarded the Order of Lenin and The Gold Star of the Hammer & Sickle.

AK47 stands for 'Automatic gun of Kalashnikov 1947'. It was adopted by the Red Army in 1947.

The Vodka is produced in St Petersburg and uses Russian grain and 'live water' from Lake Ladoga north of St Petersburg. In Russia 'live water' is the term given to water that still has the beneficial micro organism in it, as per spring bottled water, compared to industry distilled water which is called 'dead water' in Russia.

Russia has 3 categories of vodka; Spirit Essence, Standard and Lux.

'Lux' is classified as the top standard. Kalashnikov Vodka is classified as; 'Lux' Export Vodka.

Vodka has existed in Russia in honour of General Kalashnikov but until recently never exported.

The strength is 41 abv, one degree stronger than standard vodka, This was devised to stop fake or poor standard vodka being passed on to the troops. The extra strength was never disclosed (until recently) so any fake vodka would be made at standard 40 abv and the quality control officers just has to test the alcoholic strength to determine if it was genuine military vodka, at 41 abv, or fake at 40abv or below. This strength has now commonly become known as 'Military Strength'.

The traditional toast between Russian officers is 'To Friendship!', which in Russian is pronounced 'Za Droozhe-boo!'
